We do one thing well.
Month-end close automation for UK accountancy practices. Here is how we think about it.
What we do.
- We map before we build.
- Before writing a single automation, we spend two days understanding exactly where the time goes and why. The Diagnostic is the most important thing we do — it is also what makes the Build predictable.
- We build on what you already have.
- Your firm runs Xero, Sage, IRIS, or CCH. We add the automation layer on top — Power Automate for the flows, Power BI for the reporting, Fabric where the data needs to go further. Your software stack stays exactly as it is.
- We hand over something that runs.
- The Build ends with working automation, written documentation, and 30 days of post-launch support. Not a slide deck. Not a roadmap. A system your team can use on the next close.
- We stay if you want us to.
- Automation degrades without maintenance. The Retain package means your system improves over time — monthly enhancements, a standing hour for questions, and a quarterly review of what to tackle next.
What we don't do.
- We don't replace your software.
- If your firm runs Sage, it still runs Sage after we've finished. We are not a migration project and we don't propose one.
- We don't run multi-year programmes.
- The Diagnostic takes two days. The Build takes ten. If we can't demonstrate clear value inside those windows, we'll tell you before you commit.
- We don't bring a team.
- Closeworks is deliberately small. You work with David directly from scoping to handover. There is no account manager between you and the person doing the work.
- We don't solve every problem.
- If your primary need is a new practice management system, a CRM, or an ERP migration, we are not the right fit. We focus specifically on finance operations workflows.
Why this exists.
Most UK accountancy practices sit in an awkward gap. Too small for the large consultancies, who require minimum engagements that cost more than the problem. Too busy to build things internally. And too often told by software vendors that automation “isn’t supported” — when what they mean is it isn’t supported out of the box.
Power Platform is genuinely capable of solving month-end close problems. The gap is practitioners who understand both the platform and how accountancy firms actually operate — the reconciliation logic, the journal structure, the approval chains.
Closeworks exists to close that gap.
Start with a conversation.
A 30-minute scoping call is free and carries no obligation. We will tell you honestly whether we think there is a problem worth solving.
